The Shadow
I am a shadow because I am told to be,
Not by the people who care for me,
Hiding from people the way they say is right,
If I fought back it would just be a losing fight.
Open is wrong, irregular is cut out,
To be one’s self, one must shout,
To find a place in the world,
A community unfurled,
Make way for the new, the garbage disposed,
They must all be one and be reimposed.
I am a shadow, sold short and forgotten,
My problems weep loudly until they are rotten,
Shoved in a corner like a caged-in abyss,
No thought allowed near, not even a hiss.
I am a shadow because I am told to be,
Dreams are still dreams, no more then reality,
I am a shadow until I die,
Truth is left out to leave only lie.
